One of our favourite sites for a long, long time. Have a look at Pictures On Walls and be impressed. This image is by French artist Dran. Based in Toulouse, Dran is a multi-talented artist who uses a variety of media such as installations, paintings and drawings to convey his ironic viewpoint. After developing his skills as part of Toulouse's renowned graffiti scene. He is also a fan of the absurd and has published a number of books featuring his funny sketches parodying everyday events with great doses of surrealism.

This is an excerpt from A Monkey is for Life by Dara Ó Foghlú
‘Jesus wept!’ he screamed, and dropped the leash. The front door was closed, so Panther ran up the chimney, where no one could get to him. Coley tried to lure him with a banana, then tried it with whiskey, then with both. He stayed there all afternoon wafting a Chiquita Junior and a double Jameson in the hearth, hoping that Panther would come back down. ‘He’ll have to sometime,’ Bruno said, ‘there’s a wire mesh in the chimney pot to stop the crows building nests, so he can’t escape out the top.’ Word spread throughout the village, and soon people were coming in off the street to watch. Coley turned from the fireplace to see a gallery of faces. Beady-eyed Sergeant Curley was there. Father Gantley too, with his camera. Of course, all the gossip-mongers from Moran’s shop had made it their business to get front row seats. A line of them sat there staring, each of them clutching varying shades of brown leatherette hands bags and a hot port. ‘I suppose this is a grand bit of entertainment for ye?’ Coley said. ‘Have ye come to see my friend get killed?’ After lunchtime had passed with no sign of breaching the stand-off, Bruno suggested they smoke him out. ‘He’ll just get a little dizzy and fall right down.’ ‘On to a fire,’ Coley noted.
